Research Associate at Italian National Research Council

Nov 2021 - Present (Pisa, PI)

I have worked on the design and development of Computer Vision and Deep Learning systems in the following fields:

• Image and Video deepfake detection

• Multimodal Machine Learning for information retrieval

• Generative AI (GANs and Diffusion Models)

WHAT DID I LEARN?

• Deepened my knowledge in the field of Deep Learning, Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing;

• Learned how to realize and deploy Deep Learning systems on large machines (DGX systems and similar);

• Improved my public speaking and presentation skills in front of large and diverse audiences

• Learned how to manage huge amounts of data and train large Deep Learning models;

• Learned a method for working on research projects and presenting the results appropriately;

• Improved my capabilities of working both autonomously and closely with researchers from all backgrounds and countries;

• Practized writing and proofreading papers while also working as a reviewer for several journals and conferences.

I write articles about the world of Machine Learning and in particular Computer Vision, exploring the latest Deep Learning techniques by explaining and illustrating them in a simple way.

• Deepened my knowledge of the most innovative Deep Learning techniques

I am responsible for evaluating the quality of Google search results and Facebook ads. The general goal is to improve the accuracy of Machine Learning algorithms.

WHAT DID I LEARN?

• Improved my English skills in typing, listening and reading in this language for the whole experience

• Deepen my understanding of how Machine Learning datasets are built.

Jun 2022 - Jul 2022 (Thessaloniki, Greece)

Designed and developed a video deepfake detection system based on vision transformers capable of effectively handling multiple identities in videos and catching both temporal and spatial anomalies.

Software Engineer at WeTipico

May 2019 - Aug 2019 (Remote Work)

I was responsible for developing a mobile application for Android and iOS using React Native and PHP and improving the website using PHP. The goal of the project was to create a community named WeTipico to enhance the accessibility of Italy’s typical products for tourists.

Freelance Developer and Consultant

Jan 2018 - Aug 2019 (Pisa, PI)

I worked as a developer and consultant for independent people and companies giving suggestions to solve their problems and developing software.

WHAT DID I LEARN?

• Improved my communication skills by interfacing with several different people trying to understand their needs; • Learned more about many technologies such as React Native, PHP and so on

• Trained me to work together with developers and experts

• Tested my capability to teach other people taking a PHP course for a developer novice.

Software Engineer Intern at Macs Tech SRL

Jun 2018 - Nov 2018 (Pisa, PI)

I was responsible for the development of two software for the manipulation of hyperspectral images and their perceptive comparison, using colorimetry concepts and computer vision techniques.

WHAT DID I LEARN?

• Improved my C++ skills working on a real-world problem

• Learned to use OpenCV, manipulate images and colourimetry concepts

• Had the opportunity to work for an innovative company trying to understand their needs and improving my capability to work with others in a team
